Beryl comes in a number of natural colours and varieties:

• Aquamarine - light green-blue to blue-green
• Emerald - medium to dark yellowish green, green to bluish green
• Golden Beryl - light to dark greenish yellow to yellowish brown
• Green Beryl - light (pale) green
• Goshenite - colourless
• Morganite - pink (light pirplish red)
• Red Beryl - dark, strong purplish red (rare)

Phenomenal varieties:

• Cat's eye Beryl - various colours exhibiting chatoyancy
• Star Beryl - dark yellowish brown to black with six ray asterism
